We at Wedgwood Narrowboats are a bespoke boatbuilding team with a full design and build service that will encompass the needs of any requirement, be it for a live aboard or holiday craft. Every boat is built individually to the clients exacting standards, ensuring the dreams of our clients become a reality.
I, Steve Wedgwood started my career working as a race engineer on Esso touring cars. About ten years ago, my wife Sheena and I hired a narrowboat and, since we enjoyed that experience so much, we decided to hire a holiday boat twice more in the same year. Looking at the amount we had paid for this, Sheena and I decided that it would be worth buying a boat of our own. By the time the boat was lengthened and remodelled to our liking we were hooked and I decided I preferred working on slow narrowboats to fast cars.
The decision was made to link our passion with our work, and when the opportunity arose to purchase the existing chandlery at Kings Lock on the Trent & Mersey canal in Middlewich in 2003 we could not resist at took the plunge.
Listening to our client’s experience of boat builders and the problems they had, we realised that we could work to a high standard and truly give our clients what they dreamed of without the fuss, and I could use the engineering skills gained in the past. It was only natural we should start building high quality Narrowboats.
Since then the Boatbuilding team has increased to meet demand thus trying to minimize the waiting list, and we are very proud of our craftsmen. It’s all well and good having our opinion of our work, so to give assurance to our clients; all our boats are independently surveyed by Dave Broach for the Declaration of Conformity prior to delivery to you.

As a further progression to our business we have recently taken over the Chandlery and Brokerage business at Venetian Marina Village, just a couple of miles outside Nantwich, and are now able to offer a greater range of products and services.
